Here we are with Rex! (as seen through Kiara's camera)

Mardi Gras morning we got up bright and early and headed Uptown to catch some more parades.  I really wanted to be in place in time to see Zulu and get a coconut, but alas... we were too late and the crowd was too thick for me to try to fight my way through it.

So, we headed down the street and got in place to watch The Krewe of Rex parade.  Rex is one of the oldest Krewes of New Orleans Mardi Gras festivities, and has helped to shape many of the traditions of Mardi Gras.

Some of the Captains, leading the parade.  Kiara loved that the horse's hooves were painted gold.

This year's theme was "All Creatures Great and Small"

Rex and many other krewes contract the fabulous Blaine Kern Studios for their floats, as the themes change yearly.

Each of the floats had their own signature polystone medallion beads.  Of the 26 floats, we managed to catch signature beads from 6- The Jester, Frog, Monkey, Mosquito, Krakken, and Praying Mantis

This bull was awesome!  Every so often, a huge billow of smoke would come out of his nostrils.

Here's Rex!

See the purple beads flung her way?

We also caught some other fun Rex throws... plastic cups, bracelets, reusable grocery sack, frisbees, and of course lots of beads!
